| Source and status | Additional contribution from the GKV-Spitzenverband health fund list, status 24 October 2026. Contributions calculated by us on the basis of the 2026 reference figures. The Audi BKK student page states the amounts for health and care insurance (109.61 € and 30.78 €, or 35.91 € from 23) and the additional contribution of 2.6 %, retrieved 25 October 2026, no update date stated. |
These amounts apply to compulsory statutory student insurance. The additional contribution is set by each fund and can change, usually at the turn of the year. The rate that Audi BKK itself publishes is the binding one. The page gives no amounts for voluntary insurance from 30, so both minimum contributions come from the calculation based on the 2026 reference figures.
Audi BKK admits students who are enrolled at a state or state-recognised university. The page gives no further details on admission. For an overview of the contributions of all funds, see the hub Health funds for students: all funds at a glance (in German).
What does Audi BKK cost for students?
Audi BKK does not offer a freely selectable student tariff. It provides statutory student health insurance (KVdS, Krankenversicherung der Studierenden) under one fixed formula. The contribution is based on a fixed assessment basis of 855 € a month. This amount consists of 475 € basic need and 380 € housing allowance (§ 236 SGB V) and applies even if you do not receive BAföG.
This is how the 2026 contribution is calculated:
- Assessment basis: 855.00 € a month (475 € basic need plus 380 € housing allowance).
- Basic contribution: 10.22 % of 855.00 € gives 87.38 €. The rate is seven tenths of the general contribution rate of 14.6 %.
- Additional contribution of Audi BKK: 2.60 % of 855.00 € gives 22.23 €.
- Health insurance: 87.38 € plus 22.23 € gives 109.61 €.
- Care insurance: 30.78 € (3.6 %) under 23 or with a child, 35.91 € (4.2 %) from 23 without children.
- Total: 140.39 € under 23 or with a child, 145.52 € from 23 without children.
One percentage point of additional contribution corresponds to 8.55 € a month for students. The table in Additional contributions 2026 for all health funds (in German) shows how the rate compares with other funds.
What applies at Audi BKK from 25 and from 30?
Family insurance ends at 25
Until your 25th birthday you can be covered as a student through a parent who is a member of a statutory fund. This applies as long as your regular total income in 2026 does not exceed 565 € a month, or 603 € for a mini job (§ 10 SGB V). The Audi BKK also states the age limit of 25 and the income limit of 565 € on its page. The age limit can only be extended by periods of statutory or voluntary service, not by years of study. From your 23rd birthday, the care surcharge for people without children also applies, which is 5.13 € more a month. More is in the glossary Family insurance during studies (in German).
Student insurance ends at 30
Compulsory student insurance ends at the end of the semester in which you turn 30 (§ 5 para. 1 no. 9 SGB V). Since 2020 there is no maximum number of semesters, the age limit decides. The Audi BKK names exceptions, for example in case of long illness, child care, or access through the second educational pathway. Details are in Health insurance as a student over 30 and Studying at 30 (both in German).
When student insurance ends, you usually remain a voluntary member of Audi BKK, unless you can prove other cover. A minimum assessment basis then applies. This is how the 2026 minimum contribution is calculated:
- Minimum assessment basis: 3,955.00 € reference figure divided by 3 gives 1,318.33 € a month.
- Health insurance: reduced rate 14.0 % plus additional contribution 2.60 % gives 16.60 %, which is 218.84 €.
- Care insurance: 47.46 € (3.6 %) with a child, 55.37 € (4.2 %) without children.
- Total: 266.30 € with a child, 274.21 € without children.
At higher incomes the contribution is based on the actual income, up to the contribution assessment ceiling of 5,812.50 € a month.
What applies to working students and mini jobs at Audi BKK?

| Permanent employment of more than 20 hours a week | Compulsory insurance as an employee starts from the first day. |
| Mini job up to 603 € a month | Student insurance continues. For mini jobs the limit of 603 € applies instead of 565 €. |

How do you switch to Audi BKK?
You register with Audi BKK, and Audi BKK handles the cancellation with your previous fund. The deadlines are set by § 175 SGB V:
- Right to choose: you can choose your fund freely. As a student you must make the choice within two weeks of the start of compulsory insurance at the latest.
- Application: apply with Audi BKK. Notification by the new fund replaces the cancellation, and the previous fund confirms it.
- Notice period: membership ends at the close of the second calendar month after the notice. If you give notice in January, you switch on 1 April.
- Binding period: you are generally bound to the new fund for twelve months. This does not apply if membership ends by law, for example when family insurance ends.
- Special right of termination: if your fund raises the additional contribution, you can leave earlier. The twelve-month binding period then does not apply.
