Studying in Ulm combines a university with a university of applied sciences and a separate student services organisation on the Danube. Anyone enrolled here pays, in addition to the university fees, the fee to the student services organisation (Studierendenwerk) Ulm, whose amount is set out in a fee regulation. This guide gives these rates with their validity, the rents of one residence and the items that cannot be verified.

The student services fee is only one part of what you pay at university. Ulm University also names, in its information for embassies, tuition fees of 1,500 euros per semester for international students from non-EU countries, and mentions administrative fees without an amount. According to the document, this figure applies explicitly to students from non-EU countries; exceptions and individual cases are clarified by the university. No total for administrative fees, student body fee and ticket is stated, as there is no verified basis for one.

Calculation example (assumption: you are enrolled at Ulm University, semester of six months): 92.00 euros divided by six gives about 15.33 euros per month for the student services fee alone.

The obligation ends at the end of the semester in which you turn 30 (§ 5 SGB V, status January 2026). You can find an overview of the routes in our guide PKV or GKV as a Student: Which Option Fits Your Situation. A personal assessment is possible through how we work (in German).
