How high is the semester fee in Potsdam?

The university publishes a table that lists the semester fee and the re-registration fee for every semester since 2019. An extract shows the development since 2022. The detailed analysis with deadlines and calculation variants is in the guide Semester fee University of Potsdam 2026/27: 372.80 euros and deadline.

Is the re-registration fee included in the fee?

The table does not show this, and the university does not classify it in the extract. Two assumptions lead to different transfer amounts.

B: the re-registration fee is added on top372.80 + 51.00 euros423.80 euros2,542.80 euros

Both rows are assumptions, not statements by the university. Over six semesters the difference is 306.00 euros. PULS shows the binding amount under Student Services and Payments, together with a QR code for the transfer. Compare it with the table before you pay for the first time.

Tuition fees: who pays and who does not

The University of Potsdam distinguishes between undergraduate programmes, consecutive master’s programmes and continuing education offers. According to its website, no tuition fees apply to the first two. Continuing education programmes set their own fees. The table below summarises this.

Type of studyTuition fee according to the universitySemester fee
Bachelor’s or first state law examinationnonedue
Consecutive master’s programmenonedue
Continuing education programmeset for each programmedue

The page names fees for continuing education programmes but gives no amounts. Check the fee regulations of the particular programme before you enrol.

For the first state law examination the university explicitly names no tuition fee. If you study law, plan for the semester fee anyway, because it is due regardless of the degree.

Housing in Potsdam: who is responsible

According to the University of Potsdam, the Studierendenwerk West:Brandenburg offers affordable, partly furnished housing units for bachelor’s and master’s students. We have no verified rents from the Studierendenwerk, so ask directly. For private flats the usual rule applies: read the lease, deposit and service charges carefully.

If you move for your studies, plan the housing and the semester fee together. The fee is fixed and due whether or not you have found a flat. The rent, however, you negotiate with each landlord, and it pays to compare service charges and deposits before you commit.
