- Total for the winter semester 2026/27: 184.00 euros (last updated October 2026, student body stuvus and University of Stuttgart).
- Breakdown: 96.50 euros Studierendenwerk, 80.00 euros administrative cost contribution to the university, 7.50 euros student body.
- Re-enrolment takes effect with the payment, and the date the payment is received is what counts.

Source: stuvus, re-enrolment for the winter semester 2026/27 (page status 23 June 2026), and University of Stuttgart, re-enrolment (no date, accessed October 2026). The shares serve different purposes: the administrative cost contribution covers the university’s running costs, the Studierendenwerk share funds canteens, housing and counselling, and the share of the student body funds the work of the student representatives. Which services apply in detail is described by the Studierendenwerk Stuttgart.
How has the fee developed?
According to an earlier contribution notice from the student body (stuvus, contribution notices, status June 2025), the total for the winter semester 2024/25 was 174 euros, including 70 euros administrative cost contribution. In the winter semesters 2025/26 and 2026/27 it is 184 euros. The increase from 174 to 184 euros corresponds to roughly 5.7 percent (our own calculation).
Assumption: the amount stays at 184 euros per semester. Then you pay 368 euros in one academic year, 1,104 euros in a six-semester bachelor’s programme and 736 euros in a four-semester master’s programme. Dividing 184 euros by six months gives roughly 30.70 euros per month. This calculation is for orientation only.
Is a semester ticket included in the fee?
No. Neither the university’s page nor the student body’s page lists a semester ticket as an item. The nationwide student model, in which the Germany Ticket (Deutschlandticket) is part of the semester fee for all students and has cost 226.80 euros per semester since the winter semester 2026/27, requires a contract between the university and the transport association. According to the VVS page on the Deutschland-Ticket semester ticket for students (no date, accessed October 2026), so far only the International School of Management is named in the VVS area, and the University of Stuttgart does not appear there. Clarify with the student body whether and when this will change. An overview of your options is given in the guide Semester Ticket and Germany Ticket: Student Travel Costs.
When do you have to pay?
Your re-enrolment is recorded when the semester fee is paid. The university’s re-enrolment page names two recurring periods without a year.
| Semester | Re-enrolment period | Status in October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Winter semester 2026/27 | 15 July to 15 August 2026 | expired |
| Summer semester 2027 | 15 January to 15 February 2027 | still ahead of you |
The years are a transfer of the recurring periods. For the winter semester 2026/27, the stuvus page gives 15 August 2026 as the last day. According to the university’s re-enrolment page, the booking date of the payment in your C@MPUS account counts, and a transfer from your bank account takes at least three working days there. The account number and payment reference are on your contribution notice under “Meine Studierendenakte” in C@MPUS.
What happens if you pay late?
If you are late, a late fee of 20 euros applies. You must pay this and the outstanding amount within a grace period, the length of which the re-enrolment page does not state. If the full amount has not been received by the end of the grace period, you will be deregistered at the end of the current semester. The university points out that this deregistration is binding and, as a rule, cannot be reversed. Deregistration can also mean losing discounts such as the JugendTicketBW or the AusbildungsTicket. It also has consequences for funding and health insurance. For BAföG, the overview is in BAföG 2026: Eligibility, Amount and Repayment Explained.
