The most important points at a glance
- Winter term 2026/27: 376.80 euros. Summer term 2026: 358.80 euros. The 18.00 euro difference is due to the higher ticket price.
- The Deutschlandsemesterticket accounts for 226.80 euros, about 60 per cent of the total.
- The Studierendenwerk Berlin receives an 85.00 euro social contribution, and the administration fee is 50.00 euros.
- According to the FU, the re-enrolment deadline is the last Friday of the lecture period. A late payment currently carries a fee of 19.94 euros.

How much is the semester fee at FU Berlin?
On its fees page (in German), the FU publishes the amounts for re-enrolment and first-time enrolment for two terms. The page does not say expressly which of them is the current one; both are listed side by side.
| Item | Winter term 2026/27 | Summer term 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Studierendenwerk Berlin (social contribution) | 85.00 euros | 85.00 euros |
| Administration fee | 50.00 euros | 50.00 euros |
| Student body (AStA) | 10.00 euros | 10.00 euros |
| Deutschlandsemesterticket | 226.80 euros | 213.80 euros (including social fund) |
| Social fund | 5.00 euros | included in the ticket line |
| Total | 376.80 euros | 358.80 euros |
Both totals match the sum of the individual items. By calculation, the summer term 2026 contains a ticket share of 208.80 euros plus 5.00 euros for the social fund, while the winter term 2026/27 has 226.80 euros plus 5.00 euros. The extra 18.00 euros is therefore entirely the ticket price.
How does the Deutschlandsemesterticket affect the fee?
The ticket rises from 208.80 euros to 226.80 euros per semester. Over six months, that is 37.80 euros per month. Without the ticket share, the other items would come to 150.00 euros in the winter term 2026/27 (376.80 minus 226.80). This is a calculation for orientation. Only students with a valid severely disabled person’s ID and the supplement entitling them to free travel are exempt, and for them the total drops by the ticket share.
The statutes in FU official gazette no. 11/2024 (in German) set out the basics: the ticket is valid from 1 October to 31 March in the winter term and from 1 April to 30 September in the summer term. The 5 euro social fund has applied since the summer term 2024. The ticket price of 176.40 euros mentioned there is outdated. Which deadline applies to re-enrolment?
The FU gives no calendar date but a rule: the re-enrolment deadline is the last Friday of the lecture period. The money must be in the university’s account by then. From the first day afterwards, the page states a fee of currently 19.94 euros. The exact date and the amount are shown in the self-service portal under the “Gebühren” (fees) tab. For what else applies if you miss the deadline, see our guide Re-enrolment and semester fee: deadlines and consequences (in German).
For transfers from non-EU countries, the FU advises choosing the “OUR” fee option so that the full amount arrives.
How do you check your re-enrolment?
- Does the term on the payment request match the term you are re-enrolling for?
- Do the items add up to the total of 376.80 euros (winter term 2026/27) or 358.80 euros (summer term 2026)?
- Is the ticket share included, and does an exemption apply to you?
- Is the date of receipt before the re-enrolment deadline, and have you allowed for bank processing time?
- Do the payment reference and matriculation number match the university’s instructions?
Assumption: a semester has six months. Then 376.80 euros equal about 62.80 euros per month, of which 37.80 euros is for the ticket.
Worked example for one academic year. Assumption: you pay the FU amount for the summer term 2026 and the winter term 2026/27, with no exemption. That gives 358.80 plus 376.80, together 735.60 euros. Of this, 435.60 euros goes to the ticket (208.80 plus 226.80), not counting the 5.00 euro social fund per semester.
