Definition of the midijob transition zone
A midijob is employment subject to social security contributions in the transition zone above the minor-employment limit (Geringfügigkeitsgrenze). Earnings usually must not exceed 2,000 euros a month. In this midijob transition zone, you pay social security contributions at a reduced employee share, which rises gradually with pay.
