Definition of PKV expectancy cover
PKV expectancy cover (Anwartschaft) protects your health status in private health insurance (PKV) and, with the large version, your entry age, while you are not privately insured. Later, you can return to the tariff without a new health check. It is an option for periods in which you move to statutory insurance.
Value (as of 20 October 2026)
Premiums for expectancy cover depend on the tariff. No figure from the fact base is available.
Example
You switch to statutory insurance for a year, for example through an internship. With expectancy cover, your health status for PKV remains intact. After the switch, you can usually reactivate the tariff within two months after the reason for the switch ends.
Related terms
